Testing laboratory
Tests are conducted in our accredited laboratory in compliance with EN and other relevant standards.
The results serve as an objective basis for assessment and safe use of construction products.
Fire resistance testing for construction products
Our accredited laboratory is fully equipped for testing in compliance with EN standards as well as other relevant standards. We guarantee impartial, trustworthy results which are key for the assessment and safe use of your construction products.
Our fire resistance tests are performed in testing chambers which meet all parameters of the applicable EN standards. We own three testing chambers for vertical structures with the dimensions of 3 × 3 m, 4 × 3,5 m a 5 × 5 m, as well as three horizontal chambers with the dimensions of 3 × 4 m. Additionally, we perform smoke tightness testing of doors, windows, shutters and building hardware in a chamber with the dimensions of 3 × 3 m.
We have the capacity to perform the full scope of fire resistance testing for horizontal and vertical constructions, load-bearing and non-load-bearing service installations, load-bearing construction structure protections, and heat and smoke exhaust ventilation units depending on European standards issued and in preparation and selected national standards.
For testing we apply the latest test standards, as well as standards for the extended field of application (EXAP), FSG (group of notified bodies) and EGOLF guidance documents, including additional requirements and measurements, to ensure the results can be applied to the broadest possible range of product variants according to the rules of direct and extended application.
Reaction to fire testing for A1 to F Euroclasses
Our accredited laboratory is fully equipped for testing in compliance with EN standards as well as other relevant standards. We guarantee impartial, trustworthy results which are key for the assessment and safe use of your construction products.
We perform reaction to fire tests for construction products for the purposes of classification into Euroclasses according to EN 13501-1. The tests are performed using small-flame testing devices and the SBI method, which allows us to assess the behavior of products in spreading fire. In addition, we have the capacity necessary for testing fire spread on roof assemblies for classification under EN 135501, methods t1 and t4.
Aerodynamic performance testing of heat and smoke exhaust ventilators
We perform aerodynamic free area testing of heat and smoke exhaust ventilators in accordance with EN 12101-2.
Aerodynamic free area assessment is performed based on product tests and their models in the aerodynamic tunnel. If necessary, we are also able to produce models based on the drawing documentation supplied by the producer.
Physical and mechanical performance testing
Our accredited laboratories are fully equipped for testing in compliance with the applicable EN standards as well national standards. We secure accurate and reliable results, which are crucial for the safety of your products.
Mechanical performance testing is conducted in a separate testing frame or on a specimen installed in a supporting structure for fire resistance testing. Physical performance testing is performed in a 4 × 3 m testing chamber that can be rotated through 360°.
We carry out mechanical door testing required for assessment and verification of the constancy of parameters, such as cyclic opening and closing tests, soft and hard body impact tests, and operating force test. Our services further include physical tests of air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance.
We perform mechanical tests of smoke and heat exhaust ventilation units including wind load tests (WL), snow load tests (SL), cyclic opening and closing tests (Re) and low temperature tests (T). Our scope of services also includes mechanical and physical tests for plastic skylights.
Classification reports for construction products
We handle the preparation of classification reports for construction products based on test results and applicable classification standards. These serve as the basis for the next steps in the product assessment process.
For the products tested, we issue classification reports, defining the direct (DIAP) or the extended field of application (EXAP) suitable for the use of products with CE marking. In addition, we issue classification opinions, useful for verifying the constancy of performance pursuant to Slovak legislation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below are the most frequently asked questions about our services.
Test performance dates are planned based on the current availability and the type of test required. If you need a specific test date, please contact us – we will be happy to offer you the soonest available date.
The responsible testing laboratory technician will provide you with more details about the number of specimens, material necessary for installing the specimen, and specimen drawing documentation with testing chamber dimensions.
Once the tests are completed, the packaging material, installation material, and tested specimen become the property of the customer. The customer may retrieve the material or ask FIRES to dispose of it. The individual residual materials, including the specimen, are separated after the test and handed over to our waste management service supplier. The separation and disposal costs are included in the price of the test.
