Once the price quote has been accepted, the customer submits a purchase order, followed by the conclusion of a contract defining the scope and terms of the services to be provided.
Construction product testing is conducted in an accredited laboratory in compliance with the applicable standards and technical specifications as the basis for further assessment.
Test results are documented in test reports, which serve as the basis for preparing classification reports according to applicable standards. These documents determine the classification of the product from the perspective of its properties and serve as the basis for technical assessment and product certification.
Based on the results of the testing and classification, we draw up a technical assessment for construction products that are not subject to harmonized technical specifications or specific standards. Technical assessment evaluates essential product properties from the perspective of their impact on the basic requirements for buildings.
We perform assessment and verification of the constancy of construction products performance in accordance with the applicable legislation including the initial inspection of the manufacturing site and factory production control system. Once the process is completed, we issue a corresponding certificate. During the validity of the certificate, we carry out continuous surveillance over the factory production control system.
An overview of answers to questions regarding testing, certification, and technical assessment.
The price of our services depends on the scope of the project and the required types of tests. To prepare an accurate and detailed price quote, we need you to provide us with information about your construction product and its intended use in practice.
The process of product classification and certification starts by submitting technical documentation and all the required supporting documentation. Once the required test and assessments are performed, we draw up a test report as well as a classification report. Depending on the product type we determine whether it is possible to issue a certificate or whether a declaration of parameters will be sufficient.
Test performance dates are planned based on the current availability and the type of test required. If you need a specific test date, please contact us – we will be happy to offer you the soonest available date.
The responsible testing laboratory technician will provide you with more details about the number of specimens, material necessary for installing the specimen, and specimen drawing documentation with testing chamber dimensions.
Once the tests are completed, the packaging material, installation material, and tested specimen become the property of the customer. The customer may retrieve the material or ask FIRES to dispose of it. The individual residual materials, including the specimen, are separated after the test and handed over to our waste management service supplier. The separation and disposal costs are included in the price of the test.
The producer typically secures their own tools. FIRES may provide ladders, mounting platforms, forklifts and cranes. In justified cases we may provide our own tools which are currently available.
Our laboratory operates on a two-shift basis. Our personnel is present during working day from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
Specimen loading and unloading is done by forklift trucks or cranes in halls from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM on workdays.
The client who ordered the test is always responsible for installing the specimen into the supporting structure. In case the client is not able to have the specimen installed, the test laboratory may procure a third-party company to perform the installation according to the documentation provided by the client. We have established contacts with trusted third-party companies with whom we have built long-term, successful collaboration.
Test reports have indefinite validity; the results are relevant as long as the tested product complies with the requirements of the respective testing standard.
Classification protocols remain valid unless the product itself, the area of use and standards of classification change.
Certificates issued by our authorized/notified body typically have no fixed validity period. Their validity is subject to the condition that the construction product, manufacturing process, and factory production control system remain in compliance with the requirements of the applicable legislation, technical specifications, harmonized standards, or technical assessments. At the same time, it is required to successfully pass the continuous surveillance carried out by an authorized or notified body according to the relevant assessment system. The certificate can be updated, suspended or revoked in case of a change in the product or manufacturing process, technical regulations or non-compliance of surveillance requirements.
The testing laboratory contains three vertical testing chambers with the dimensions of 3 × 3 m, 4 × 3.5 m and 5 × 5 m and two horizontal testing chambers with the dimensions of 3 × 4 m. The placement of the specimen into a chamber depends on its dimensions, the number of specimens and the current date availability. The responsible testing laboratory technician will provide you with more details.
In accordance with the contractual terms and conditions, we typically provide the draft test/classification report no later than 30 days after the test is performed or after the complete required documentation is supplied. After receiving customer’s comments, the finalized documents are issued within 20 days. Whether we are able to process the test report in time depends on the active participation of the customer – especially whether the complete drawing documentation and other technical data necessary for the test report are supplied in timely manner.
In case of product certification, the process of order completion and relevant time lines are governed by Regulation no. 305/2011 or Act no. 133/2013 Coll. on construction products and on amendments to certain acts, as amended.
Our documents are recognized within the EU, and in the case of certain products type in Qatar and United Arabic Emirates. For other countries, we suggest you verify their acceptance status, since countries outside the EU may require testing to be done in compliance with other than European norms.
FIRES is accredited to perform tests in compliance with a wide range of European standards and several IMO and BS standards, in the fields of fire resistance, reaction to fire, physical and mechanical performance, and aerodynamic performance of heat and smoke exhaust ventilators. FIRES is also an accredited Certification Body for selected groups of construction products. An up-to-date list of testing methods, authorization scope and notifications is available on our website.
